1. Extremely obese.
   • A young man of perhaps twenty had previously attracted the attention of all the passengers, from his peculiarly Daniel Lambertish proportions. 1851, Unknown author, “Steamboats and Steamboating in the Southwest”, in The Literary World, volume 9, page 181:
   • The term is supposed to be derived from φιλο ςοφια, Gr., the precise meaning of which has never properly ascertained ; it is however supposed that the individuals who composed the class of ancient philosophers, porcine in their habits, and Daniel Lambertish in their persons, were usually large enough to fill-a-sofa, and hence the term. 1849 May, "The Bunkumville Chronicle", “Philosophy”, in The Knickerbocker; Or, New-York Monthly Magazine, page 432:
