A kind of European plum (Prunus domestica), an early-season culinary plum with large, dark purple fruits.
Of 22 young Czar plums planted in 1920 to replace the silvered trees removed, none has so far died, and only one has shown silvering; this indicates that there is very little danger of the young plums becoming infected from the previous trees, provided the latter are removed and burnt.
