From Chinese + -ium. Alludes to common beliefs regarding Chinese workmanship and trade practices during the 20th and early 21st centuries.

Meanings

1. (derogatory, humorous, slang, sometimes, uncountable) Low-quality products made in China; the imaginary worthless material used to make such products.
