Etymology

Named after Cuban physician and serologist Alejandro Moisés Chédiak (1903–1993) and named after Japanese pediatrician Otokata Higashi (1883–1981).

  1. (uncountable) A rare autosomal recessive disorder that arises from a defect in lysosomes, leading to a decrease in phagocytosis, causing recurrent pyogenic infections, partial albinism and peripheral neuropathy.
