Likely originated on YouTube in 2008, on a now-deleted video of a military parade titled "North Korea is Best Korea", which amassed hundreds of thousands of views. Afterwards, further popularized through an image of Kim Jong Il with the text "North Korea is Best Korea", which originated on 4chan in January 2009, from where the term also made its way to Tumblr and Reddit.
