From Ancient Greek Ἀτλαντίς (Atlantís), from Ἄτλας (Átlas, “Atlas”), either from ἁ- (ha-, copulative prefix) + Proto-Indo-European *telh₂- (“bear, undergo, endure”) or of Pre-Greek origin.
