- (historical) The prophecy, during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Manuel I Komnenos (r. 1143–1180), that the initial letters of the names of the emperors of the Komnenos dynasty would spell αἷμα (haîma) ("blood" in Ancient Greek), and thus the emperor to follow Manuel I would begin with A.
