Neopagan Odinism, a belief system centered on the reconstruction of the pre-Christian Norse/Germanic pantheon, has in recent years taken on an increasingly important role in the wilderness of the radical right as well; the existence of a nonracialist counterpart, Ásatrú, provides an interesting contrast. 1997, Jeffrey Kaplan, Radical Religion in America, page xviii:
